This is the story of Jim Outten. Orphaned near the end of the civil war, 13-year-old Jimmy decides to go and live with his uncle who has a ranch out west. It’s a long walk from Tennessee to Santa Fe, New Mexico and 15-year-old Jim arrives there a man.
